CDC Launches the CDC Radio Series
CDC Radio – CDC's newest medium for delivering health and safety messages to the public – is a central repository where radio stations and others can go to find current CDC PSAs.
CDC Hits the Airwaves
On October 26, 2009, CDC podcasting added a new series to its diverse catalog of health- and safety-related messages – CDC Radio. CDC Radio consists of public service announcement (PSA) audio messages - primarily 30-second spots - which are targeted to a broad audience base, including health care professionals, the general public, and the radio stations that serve these audiences. CDC Radio has a unique URL so anyone can go directly to the website to listen to and/or download the PSAs. Currently, CDC Radio is populated with over 80 PSAs on a wide variety of topics ranging from the 2009 H1N1 flu to The Jonas Brothers' promotion of diabetes management.
CDC's "One-Stop Shop" for PSAs
CDC strives to communicate public health messages through multiple channels, and recognizes that radio is an important resource. Stations are more likely to broadcast PSAs if they are high quality, easy to access, and "radio ready" (:15, :30, or 1 minute lengths). CDC Radio is the new central repository for all of CDC's PSAs. Now, radio stations can go to one location and retrieve timely information which can be disseminated to their listeners within minutes.
As with all CDC podcasts, you can search or browse a diverse group of health- and safety-related topics and select specific PSAs that are relevant to you. New PSAs are frequently posted and many are available in Spanish. Preview and download any PSA from the CDC Radio library. While there, you can subscribe to the CDC Radio series by clicking on the "Subscribe" tab. When you subscribe, using an RSS reader, you will automatically be notified each time a new PSA is posted so you can stay updated on the latest CDC health and safety public service announcements.
